35 Jahre Tag der Deutschen Einheit und 30 Jahre Point Alpha: Als markantes Symbol f\u00fcr die Wiedervereinigung sowie die bewegende deutsch-deutsche Geschichte begeht die Gedenkst\u00e4tte ein besonderes Doppeljubil\u00e4um. Die Point Alpha Stiftung l\u00e4dt die \u00d6ffentlichkeit am Donnerstag und Freitag, den 2. und 3. Oktober, zu vielf\u00e4ltigen Festlichkeiten ins US Camp ein. Festredner beim Festakt ist der ehemalige Pfarrer, B\u00fcrgerrechtler und Politiker Rainer Eppelmann. Von Hubschrauber-Rundfl\u00fcgen, Podiumsdiskussion, Oldtimer-Show, F\u00fchrungen bis hin zu St\u00e4nden, Musik, Kinderspa\u00df und Verk\u00f6stigung – die Besucher erwartet eine Mixtur aus Information, Unterhaltung und Prominenz.<\/p>\n

Festakt und Kranzniederlegung am 2. Oktober<\/h5>\n

\u201eWir wollen uns als Geschichts-, Erinnerungs- und Lernort mit Zukunftsorientierung pr\u00e4sentieren und mit den Menschen in den Austausch treten\u201c, sagt der Point-Alpha-Vorstand mit Benedikt Stock und Philipp Metzler. Gespannt sei man auf die Ausf\u00fchrungen und Einsch\u00e4tzungen von Rainer Eppelmann, der die Rede beim Festakt um 16.30 Uhr in der Fahrzeughalle des ehemaligen US-Beobachtungspunktes \u201eOP Alpha\u201c halten wird. Der heute 82-j\u00e4hrige Berliner ist eines der bekanntesten Gesichter der Oppositionsbewegung in der DDR und des turbulenten Revolutionsherbstes. Als Minister f\u00fcr Verteidigung und Abr\u00fcstung in der letzten DDR-Regierung l\u00f6ste er die Nationale Volksarmee (NVA) auf. In mehreren Ver\u00f6ffentlichungen hat sich Eppelmann mit der Aufarbeitung der DDR-Geschichte besch\u00e4ftigt. Bis heute ist er als Vorstandsvorsitzender der Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur t\u00e4tig.<\/p>\n

Kranzniederlegung und Erinnerung am 2. Oktober an ein bedeutendes Ereignis der deutschen Geschichte.<\/p><\/div>\n

Als besondere G\u00e4ste werden der hessische Ministerpr\u00e4sident Boris Rhein und die stellvertretende Ministerpr\u00e4sidentin und Finanzministerin des Freistaates Th\u00fcringen, Katja Wolf, am Festakt teilnehmen. Die U.S.-Army Europa und Afrika wird vertreten durch Brigadegeneral Andrew D. Cecil. Zuvor findet um 16.10 Uhr eine Kranzniederlegung am Denkmal der deutschen Teilung und Wiedervereinigung statt. Am 35. Tag der Deutschen Einheit \u00fcbernimmt Dekan Dr. Thorsten Waap vom Evangelischen Kirchenkreis Fulda die Festpredigt beim \u00d6kumenischen Gottesdienst um 10 Uhr. Vor dem Hintergrund von 35 Jahre Wiedervereinigung lautet das Thema \u201eGesellschaftliche und eigene Grenzen\u201c. Ihm zur Seite stehen als Konzelebranten Superintendent Christoph Ernst (Ev.-luth. Kirchenkreis Bad Salzungen-Dermbach), Pastor Dr. J\u00fcrgen K\u00e4mpf aus Schleid (Stv. Dechant Dekanat H\u00fcnfeld-Geisa), Pfarrer Markus G\u00fcnther (Kath. Gemeinde Rasdorf\/Eiterfeld), Pfarrer Roland Jourdan (Ev. Kirche Vacha und Geisa), Pfarrer Harald Kr\u00fcger (Ev. Kirche Hohenroda), Pfarrer Andreas Matth\u00e4i (Pastoralverbund Hessisches Kegelspiel\/Eiterfeld) sowie Pfarrer Ulrich Piesche (Kath. Kirche Borsch und Bermbach).\u00a0 F\u00fcr die musikalische Umrahmung sorgt Ulrich G\u00f6b.<\/p>\n

Im Anschluss startet im US Camp ein bunter Familientag. F\u00fcr Speisen und Getr\u00e4nke ist gesorgt, die musikalische Unterhaltung \u00fcbernimmt der Motzlarer Musikverein. F\u00fcr die Kinder ist jede Menge Spa\u00df garantiert auf der H\u00fcpfburg und mit weiteren Spielen des Circus Ikarus. Ideale Voraussetzungen f\u00fcr einen Feiertags-Ausflug mit der ganzen Familie in den authentischen Geschichtsort. Bitte beachten, der Eintritt ins US Camp ist nur zum Gottesdienst frei.<\/p>\n

Rundfl\u00fcge mit dem Hubschrauber:<\/strong> Sie kennen Ihre Region in und auswendig? Dann \u00e4ndern Sie doch mal den Blickwinkel. Gelegenheit dazu gibt es im Rahmen des Jubil\u00e4um-Programms von 10 bis 18 Uhr bei Helikopter-Rundfl\u00fcgen \u00fcber Point Alpha und Umgebung. Das Biosph\u00e4renreservat Rh\u00f6n mit dem Nationalen Naturmonument Gr\u00fcnes Band \u00fcben aus der Vogelperspektive eine besondere Faszination aus. Kaum zu glauben, dass fr\u00fcher hier der ehemalige Todesstreifen mit dem Sperrgebiet auf der einen und dem Zonenrandgebiet auf der anderen Zeit Deutschland trennte. \u00a0Im Helikopter haben die Passagiere einen wunderbaren Panoramablick. So kann man die perfekte Aussicht genie\u00dfen und hat die M\u00f6glichkeit, eindrucksvolle Fotos von der Region zu machen.<\/p>\n

Podiumsgespr\u00e4ch \u201eGeschleifte H\u00f6fe\u201c:<\/strong> Um 13 Uhr sind die G\u00e4ste eingeladen zu einem Podiumsgespr\u00e4ch zum Thema \u201eGeschleifte H\u00f6fe\u201c. Die Zeitzeugen Bruno Heller (ehemals Seleshof Ketten), Christel Bittorf-Rasch (Hintere M\u00fchle Unterweid) und Gerhard He\u00df (Kohlbachhof Kranlucken) diskutieren mit Wolfgang Christmann (Burghaun) und Bruno Leister (Meinigen), den Autoren des Buches \u201eZur eigenen Sicherheit?\u201c. Die neu aufgelegte Publikation widmet sich einem drastischen Kapitel der innerdeutschen Grenzgeschichte: der Zwangsr\u00e4umung und Schleifung von H\u00f6fen im Geisaer Amt zur Zeit der DDR. Die Moderation hat Blanka Weber.<\/p>\n

F\u00fchrung zu jeder vollen Stunde:<\/strong> Zu empfehlen sind im Verlauf nat\u00fcrlich die klassischen, musealen Angebote im Haus auf der Grenze, im US Camp, auf dem \u201eWeg der Hoffnung\u201c und an den Grenzsperranlagen des Eisernen Vorhangs. Oder aber eine der offene Museumsf\u00fchrungen, die von 10 bis 15 Uhr zu jeder vollen Stunde beginnen. G\u00e4stebegleiter bieten dabei den Teilnehmern\u00a0einen \u00dcberblick \u00fcber die Themen der Gedenkst\u00e4tte. Treffpunkt ist jeweils die Kasse im Haus auf der Grenze. Die Kosten betragen 3,50 Euro pro Person ab 16 Jahren zuz\u00fcglich zum regul\u00e4ren Museumseintritt. Kinder unter 16 Jahren sind von der F\u00fchrungsgeb\u00fchr befreit, sie zahlen nur den Gedenkst\u00e4tteneintritt.<\/p>\n

Polizei-Oldtimer und US-Army:<\/strong> Abgerundet wird das Jubil\u00e4umsprogramm von einer Ausstellung von Polizeifahrzeug-Oldtimern aus Ost und West. Mitglieder des 1. Deutschen Polizeioldtimer- Museums und des Polizei-Motorsport-Clubs aus Marburg starten aus unterschiedlichen Punkten Deutschlands zu einer Sternfahrt zur Gedenkst\u00e4tte, um dort ihre \u201eSch\u00e4tze\u201c zu pr\u00e4sentieren. Informationen h\u00e4lt schlie\u00dflich die Association of the United States Army (AUSA) bereit. Der Verein wurde 1950 als \u00fcberparteiliche, p\u00e4dagogische Non-Profit-Organisation gegr\u00fcndet und st\u00e4rkt die Verbindung zwischen Soldaten und dem amerikanischen Volk, f\u00f6rdert den milit\u00e4rischen Beruf und verbessert die Beziehungen zur Industrie.<\/p>\n

Blick auf 30 Jahre Point Alpha<\/h3>\n

Es gibt ein intensives Programm am 3. Oktober, dem Tag, an dem die Gedenkst\u00e4tte nachtr\u00e4glich die 30. Geburtstagskerze ansteckt. \u201eEs ist eigentlich kaum zu glauben, was sich in der Zeit von 1995 bis heute hier entwickelt hat\u201c, staunt selbst Vorsitzender Raymond Walk vom F\u00f6rderverein Point Alpha. Seinerzeit plante Hessen, den Observation Post Alpha vollst\u00e4ndig zu renaturieren. Engagierte B\u00fcrger aus Ost und West ergriffen die Initiative und k\u00e4mpften unter dem Dach der Vereine \u201eGrenzmuseum Rh\u00f6n Point Alpha\u201c auf Geisaer Seite und der \u201eMahn-, Gedenk- und Bildungsst\u00e4tte Point Alpha\u201c in Rasdorf mit Berthold D\u00fccker und Dr. Hans-Peter H\u00e4fner an der Spitze f\u00fcr den Erhalt sowie den Ausbau zur Gedenkst\u00e4tte. Mit Erfolg.<\/p>\n

\u201eEs gibt vieles, was wir aus Geschichte lernen k\u00f6nnen\u201c, fasst Walk im R\u00fcckblick zusammen. Wohin es f\u00fchre, wenn ein totalit\u00e4res Regime Angst und Schrecken verbreite, auf Point Alpha werde das Schicksal vieler Opfer aufgearbeitet und es werde das Engagement und der Dienst der US-Soldaten f\u00fcr die Freiheit dargestellt.<\/p>\n

Im Sommer 1995 wurden die Baracken, die sich in einem desolaten Zustand befanden, endg\u00fcltig an Point Alpha \u00fcbergeben, sofort f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit zug\u00e4nglich gemacht und Schritt f\u00fcr Schritt renoviert und mit musealen Ausstellungen und Zeitobjekten erweitert. Im Laufe der vergangenen 30 Jahre haben ann\u00e4hernd zwei Millionen G\u00e4ste Point Alpha besucht. Stock und Metzler erg\u00e4nzen: \u201eDas gesamte Point-Alpha-Team ist auf die Resonanz und die Entwicklung stolz, sieht es allerdings ebenso als Verpflichtung, weiterhin f\u00fcr ein Europa in
