"Path of hope"
ARTWORK, MONUMENT, PLACE OF REFLECTION

Within 18 months, spanning the anniversary period of 2009/10, a total of 14 commemorative sculpture groups will be erected along the former border, the deadly dividing line which for over 40 years marked the frontier between freedom and repression. Based on the 14 biblical stations of the cross - with countless facets - these installations tell a story – and recount history. Suppression, despotism, suffering, courage, hope and the belief in change: these are the constant elements of the story.

The Point Alpha Foundation launched the "Weg der Hoffnung" (‘Path of Hope') project to serve as a reminder of the peaceful resistance to the communist dictatorships of Central and Eastern Europe – resistance that was never completely suppressed at any stage.
